Welcome to the development blog for Mirrors of Midnight. In this development blog, I'll be sharing updates, behind-the-scenes content, and other interesting information about the game's development process. Stay tuned for more updates! This was totally not written by ChatGPT.
If you're unfamiliar with me, my name is Riot, I go by SlvtSammich on Twitch, and I've been dabbling in game design and development for a decade now in the indie space. Mirrors is currently at the end of it's second month of development using Unity. Here's the basic pitch.
Mirrors of Midnight is a rogue-lite first-person horror game set in a labyrinthine library where players become a member of an ancient female order tasked with trapping and vanquishing lost specters within. With the goal of emergent behaviors as players navigate the ever-changing halls and puzzles, a lot of early development has been spent building systems that can be a solid foundation for future expansion. As of now, systems are at about 50% completion for the vertical slice, and projected time before a playable build can be sent out to selected testers is roughly a month if things stay on schedule.
Since this project is larger than most I’ve set my mind too, I decided keeping a development blog will help keep me accountable as development continues and prevent falling off, which is something I have a habit of. If you’re curious about up to the minute updates, I usually post updates in our Twitch Discord which can be found if you follow the twitch link in the navbar.
